Literary Nymphs - 4.5 Nymphs
Literary Nymph Reviewer: Mystical Nymph
Once Shaun learns of the existence of shape-shifters, she’s determined to discover if vampires exist too. That’s what brings her to the local cemetery in the middle of the night, and why she finds herself sitting on the headstone of her long dead grandmother, Gertie. Shaun’s waiting for something…anything to happen when she accidentally calls forth Gertie, and promptly falls off the tombstone.
Rob, the local pack alpha, and his best friend, Jak, an old vampire, are in the cemetery to teach nosy Shaun a lesson. They’d intended to scare some sense into her on when not to interfere in pack business. Instead they’re just as shocked at the sudden appearance of Gertie’s ghost on the scene, and Jak even more so. It seems he knew Gertie three hundred years ago, back when he’s been newly changed into a vampire.
These three find themselves unexpectedly thrust into the middle of a 7th century mythology story, a lot of blue sparkle laden magic, and a confusing, cryptic prophecy that unexpectedly mates the three individuals into a trio.
Witch Vamp Were? is the second release in the Huntingdawn Pack series by talented author Anne Douglas, and like the first book, this one is a hoot that takes the reader on a fast-paced rollercoaster ride from beginning to end. It’s filled with great characters, snappy dialogue, a nosy ghost, a confusing prophecy, and enough hot sex between Shaun, Rob and Jak that you’ll need a fan. The plot is well constructed, pulling in Rex and Pearl, and tidbits of information from Accidentally Were? which helped keep the story moving along and leading the ongoing story arc into the next release.
While all the characters were great, the one that steals the show is the ghost of Shaun”s many timed removed grandmother, who happens to be a witch. Did I mention that makes Shaun an untrained witch too? I don’t know how many books are planned for this charming series, but as far as I’m concerned…keep’em coming!
Ecatasensual - 5 stars
Anne Douglas has done it again. Her story is super hot and spicy with the perfect blend of mystery and humor to keep the reader entertained and reading until the very last page. The eroticism is beautifully captured and the relationship between the three main characters is not only immensely funny but also emotionally charged. The characters are enchanting and the story a must read, five star treat.
Shaun knows were’s exist but now she wants to prove that vampires do too. What she proves is a lot more than she bargained for. Not only are vampires and were’s real but so are ghosts. On top of all these discoveries is the most shocking yet. Not only are vampires and were’s real but Shaun is mated to one of each. But that isn’t the only thing Shaun has to contend with. Not only does she have a vampire and a were cat as mates but they are all part of a prophecy too. Sometimes we find a lot more than we bargained for when we start proving that there really are things that go bump in the night.
Witch Vamp Were? is an absolutely magical read. It was super funny with equally hot sex and friction. This is the kind of book where you need a cold glass of water and a towel because while the sex will make you hot, the humor will have you spitting that water all over the place. This is definitely a must read novel by an extremely accomplished author. I can not wait for more of these fabulous shifter/vampire stories. This book is definitely a present any time of the year.
Fallen Angels Reviews – 4 Angels
Anne Douglas is good at writing ménage stories. Really, really good and Witch Vamp Were? is another example of how good she can be. Shaun is a fun character, she was fun in the previous book and with this more in depth look at her character she becomes an even greater person to read about. Both men were sex magnets. So charged with sensual heat that I had to wipe my brow whenever they appeared in the story, especially when their smoldering sensuality became raw sexual energy and whether in a trio or pairs they burned up the circuits in my ebook reader. Jakov and Rob were each just yummy in different ways and variety is the spice of life and Shaun is one lucky lady! The plot was a continuation of the prophecy theme from Accidentally Were? and a few questions left from that book were answered while more were raised. I can’t wait to see where Ms. Douglas takes us next and I, for one, am eagerly awaiting the continuation of this journey.
